SO WHY WORK WITH A TRAVEL ADVISOR?

I’m often asked ‘why use a travel advisor?’

People do not usually understand the benefits that working with a travel advisor can offer. In terms of getting best value, more than getting the best 'deal’ - it’s a real value to:

  • Having a human being who cares A LOT.

  • Who is there to represent YOU.

  • Access to lots of vetted industry partners and relationships with cruise companies, hotels, tour operators, and local communities.

  • Ability to be there to advise and work closely with you to personalize your experience based on your interests and desires.

  • Someone who is there to support you throughout the process.

  • Bringing professional expertise as someone who is immersed in planning trips on a daily basis, ready, willing and able!

And even more than your travel advisor, I’m your personal experience builder.

Some frequently asked questions about travel and vacation…

  • This depends upon the travelers. I would utilize the discovery conversation to determine where a traveler or group would fall within a range, such as: adventure seekers to those who prefer staying close to the hotel/resort.

For first time visitors outside the USA, Canada could be a nice option. Lots of beauty and nature available, along with unique experiences from wineries and culinary experiences to visiting quaint villages or maybe even a local llama farm, plus lots of rich history and culture. The most popular travel locations include cities like Paris, Rome, and Tokyo, known for their rich culture, ease of navigation, and iconic landmarks.

  • This can vary based on destination and length of trip.

Having the proper travel documents, bring necessary medications, toiletries, electronic devices and correct outlet adapters where needed.

For clothing, try to combine outfits to pack and carry less. Utilize neutral colors or solid colored clothing that can be mixed and matched. Add jewelry for bling and accent.

On some group tours, a packing list may be offered.

  • Travel Protection Insurance is always recommended. Policies can vary and some may mistake the cancellation insurance often offered by a cruise company, for example, which can be more of a cancellation policy that may provide some credit if cancelled and may come in the form of cruise credits.

Travel Protection Insurance through an insurance company also has coverages for medical reasons as well as for “travel inconveniences”, such as for flight delays or cancellations, and some even cover for pets.

It is important to review the policy details. As a travel advisor, I do sell policies using vetted insurance providers, yet always refer clients to speak directly to the insurance company with specific coverage questions.

  • The documents needed vary by destination. I send my travelers this link to Sherpa which details the specific documents needed based on one’s nationality and travel destination.

Beginning May 2025, the “real ID” will be required for all domestic air travel and access to federal facilities.

Passports for international travel must be valid for at least 6 months from date of travel and have at least 1 blank page. Other documents, such as medication prescriptions, necessary vaccination certificates and other important documents are also important.

  • Report the loss to local authorities and your embassy or consulate immediately. Carry copies of important documents separately from the originals.

  • Learning basic phrases, using translation apps, and carrying a phrasebook can help. In many tourist areas, locals may speak some English.

  • Use a mix of cash, credit/debit cards, and travel money cards. Inform your bank about your travel plans to avoid card blocks.

  • Consult with a healthcare provider about recommended vaccinations and health precautions for the specific destination.

  • Researching the destination, staying aware of your surroundings, keeping valuables secure, and knowing emergency contact numbers can enhance safety.
